Larsen Seeks Answers on Newly-Released Boeing 737 MAX Documents

Today, Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02), Chair of the House Aviation Subcommittee, issued the following statement after the release of an instant message chain between two Boeing employees regarding the 737 MAX:

“The most recent trove of documents from Boeing show a stunning lack of integrity of a Boeing employee to whom was entrusted a vital role.

“It begs the question about who at Boeing knew of this flaunting of responsibility, why people in the Boeing organization did not flag for the Committee and the FAA sooner, and what oversight role the FAA played and was supposed to play.

“In other words, the Committee’s investigation is clearly asking the right questions no matter how uncomfortable they might be. As the investigation continues, the Committee will maintain safety as its guiding principle and use the tools at its disposal to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

“As we continue to get more information on this new discovery, this will not be my last word on the matter.”
