A congressman who represents parts of Whatcom County says United Airlines put its own needs above those of the its passengers’ when it forcibly removed a man.

Democrat Rick Larsen says that’s not how the airline should have handled the doctor who refused to get off the flight to accommodate a crew member who wanted the seat.

“I do wanna note, Mr. Munoz, I want to make clear to you, and all the other airlines at the table and the ones that are not here: What happened on United Express 34-11 cannot happen again.”

United’s CEO told Larsen the removal of David Dao from a plane in Chicago last month sparked several changes in policy at the airline to keep something like that from happening again.
