Sky Valley Chronicle: Rep. Larsen To Meet With Sailors, Commanders From Destroyers, Veterans Groups This Week

Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) will  give remarks on Thursday welcoming sailors, sailors’ families and Command Leadership teams from the three newly homeported destroyers at Naval Station Everett.

The destroyers are the USS Gridley, USS Sampson and USS Kidd..

Larsen previously advocated to bring the three destroyers to replace decommissioned frigates at Naval Station Everett.  All three destroyers arrived in Everett in 2016.

After the breakfast, he will meet with student veterans at the Everett Community College campus and will then tour Sebastian Place, a 20-unit complex to house formerly homeless veterans. The housing project is a partnership between Catholic Community Services and Housing Authority of Snohomish County.

Following the tour, Larsen will then meet with student veterans at Edmonds Communioty College and lastly will head to Camano Chapel to meet with His Veterans Ministry.

Larsen has long advocated for the U.S. military, service members and veterans. Recently he was awarded the Navy’s highest civilian honor for outstanding service to the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps.
