ART WINNER: A Sedro-Woolley High School student has been named the winner of U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen’s congressional student art competition.

Student Maddie Moser and her parents will join Larsen in Washington, D.C., for the opening of the annual Congressional Art Show.

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION: A retirement celebration honoring outgoing Concrete School District Superintendent Barbara Hawkings will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in the Concrete High School gymnasium. The public is invited to attend.

ENDOWED W.L. AND MAUDE E. COPNER NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: To honor and commemorate Maude Copner for her six decades of outstanding nursing service in Skagit County, the Copner family is offering a $2,000 nursing scholarship to a woman who has been accepted to a baccalaureate nursing program.
