EVERETT, WA – Today, Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) announced Paul Roberts of Everett will serve as his district coordinator to help implement and oversee the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which President Biden signed into law on November 15, 2021. Roberts recently completed terms on the Sound Transit Board of Directors and the Everett City Council and previously served on the Everett School Board. He brings more than four decades of experience in public policy and management at the city, county and federal level, including transportation and environmental planning.

“I want the communities and organizations in my district to know how to access federal funding for infrastructure investments under the bipartisan infrastructure law,” said Larsen. “Paul knows transportation policy at the local and regional levels and will be an invaluable resource as my office identifies infrastructure needs and pushes for federal investment in local projects that create well-paying jobs and drive long-term economic growth.”

As District Transportation and Infrastructure Coordinator, Roberts will serve as Larsen’s point person on all federal-related transportation and infrastructure initiatives in Washington’s Second Congressional District. Roberts will engage with local, county and Tribal governments to highlight critical infrastructure projects in the district and identify available pathways for federal funding. Roberts will also work with businesses, organized labor, nonprofits and constituent organizations.

Roberts has several decades of experience in senior government management positions, including as Planning and Community Development Director for the City of Everett (1988-2004) and Assistant City Manager and Public Works Director for the City of Marysville (2005-2008). He currently chairs the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency Board of Directors. Roberts previously served as Chief of Staff to former Rep. Norm Dicks of Washington’s Sixth Congressional District.

In visits throughout the Second District, Larsen has emphasized how the new infrastructure law will benefit Northwest Washington. Since the law’s enactment in November, Larsen has held or participated in nearly 50 in-person or virtual infrastructure-related events with elected officials and stakeholders in all five counties in the Second District.
