Rep. Rick Larsen, WA-02, today announced seven grants totaling more than $8.6 million to build and modernize affordable housing and prevent crime on Indian reservations in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. The grants were awarded under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program.
“These grants will expand affordable housing on Indian reservations and make these communities safer,” Larsen said. “One of my top priorities is making sure we are developing and enhancing local initiatives that improve affordable housing.”
The IHBG program provides funding to build, expand and improve affordable housing, provide housing services, and boost crime prevention and public safety programs on Indian reservations. For more information, visit https://www.hud.gov/offices/pih/ih/grants/ihbg.cfm.
