Larsen Announces More Than $8.6 Million in Grants for Indian Housing in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom Counties

Rep. Rick Larsen, WA-02, today announced seven grants totaling more than $8.6 million to build and modernize affordable housing and prevent crime on Indian reservations in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties. The grants were awarded under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program.

“These grants will expand affordable housing on Indian reservations and make these communities safer,” Larsen said. “One of my top priorities is making sure we are developing and enhancing local initiatives that improve affordable housing.”

The details of the grants are as follows:

Snohomish County:
Stillaguamish Housing Authority – $200,258
Tulalip Tribes – $2,714,330

Skagit County:
Samish Nation – $689,571
Sauk-Suiattle Tribe – $407,846
Swinomish Housing Authority – $1,068,617

Whatcom County:
Lummi Housing Authority – $2,918,675
Nooksack Tribe – $651,532
