Rep. Rick Larsen, WA-02, today issued the following statement on marriage equality following President Obama’s statement that he supports same-sex marriage.
“President Obama today arrived at a belief that millions of Americans, including myself, share. Marriage is a civil right that all Americans—gay or straight—should be able to enjoy,” Larsen said. “I am proud to be from Washington, which has helped lead the way in extending marriage rights for all. I look forward to the day when every American is able to marry the person that they love.”
Larsen advocated for the end of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and is a co-sponsor of the Respect for Marriage Act, which would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act.
