U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement today on the news that Meridian Yachts will close its doors in the coming days:

“The loss of Meridian Yachts is sad news not only for Meridian workers and their families, but for our entire community.

“I have asked my staff to do everything we can to help Meridian workers find new jobs and help their families get through this difficult time.  My office is looking into ways we can be of assistance to our Workforce Development Councils in Snohomish and Skagit County, and to the community as a whole.

“We face a global economic crisis, and we are feeling the impact here in Arlington and across Northwest Washington. As a community, I know we will come together to help our neighbors in need.  As your representative, I will keep fighting to get our economy back on track.”
