U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) issued the following statement in reaction to news of an explosion at the Tesoro refinery in Anacortes.

“I was shocked to hear the tragic news of the explosion at the Tesoro refinery this morning.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims of this horrible event.  I am ready to help them in any way I can.

It is my understanding that investigating the cause of an explosion like this will take time.  I encourage as timely and as complete an investigation as possible in order to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
