Larsen Votes to Support Funding for Israel’s Iron Dome

Rep. Rick Larsen, WA-02, today voted for and the House of Representatives passed a measure to provide $225 million for Iron Dome, the Israeli missile defense system.

Since the start of the current conflict, Hamas has fired more than 2,000 rockets at Israel. The Iron Dome system has proven successful at destroying many of these incoming rockets, according to Israeli officials.

“Israel has a fundamental right to self-defense and an obligation to protect its citizens from attack.  This funding ensures the Israeli military has the tools it needs to continue to shield civilians from Hamas’ indiscriminate rocket fire.

“Recent violence is tragic and complicates the already difficult task of establishing a two-state solution. I firmly believe that the United States should be involved in promoting the establishment of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East,” Larsen said.
