Larsen, Smith, DelBene, Kilmer, Jayapal and Strickland Reaffirm Support for High Speed Rail in Washington and the Pacific Northwest

In a letter to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Administrator Amit Bose, the lawmakers applauded FRA’s recent announcement of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grants for the Cascadia High-Speed Ground Transportation (USHSGT) project and Amtrak Cascades corridors while emphasizing the importance of future federal investment in Cascadia UHSGT.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, members of Washington’s House delegation led by Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02), the lead Democrat on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, reaffirmed their support for high speed rail and improved intercity passenger rail service in Washington state and the Pacific Northwest.

In a letter to Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Administrator Amit Bose, the lawmakers applauded FRA’s recent announcement of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law grants for the Cascadia High-Speed Ground Transportation (USHSGT) project and Amtrak Cascades corridors while emphasizing the importance of future federal investment in Cascadia UHSGT.

“These investments are an important first step in investing in rail in the region that will help create a long-term development pipeline of capital projects, take meaningful steps to link communities and improve intercity passenger rail service in the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to working with FRA and Washington state to unlock further funding...”
