Today, Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement on the Trump administration's actions in Venezuela: 

"No one is lamenting the fate of Venezuela’s president Nicolás Maduro. Yet our President's actions today do not demonstrate strength. They violate international law and harm our credibility with an already shrinking number of allies, friends and partners.

"I have serious questions about what the President means when he says the U.S. will “run” Venezuela, whether American taxpayers will be forced to foot the bill, and what impact, if any, this action will have on illegal drugs coming into our communities.

"As I have done in the past and will continue to do, I honor and respect the women and men of the United States military. It is not our servicemembers who are responsible for the policy decisions that drive their missions. That responsibility sits squarely with the Trump administration."
