Today, Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the following statement on the retirement of Representative Steny Hoyer (MD-05): 

"Steny Hoyer was with me from the very beginning. He visited my soon-to-be district in 2000 to meet my family and supporters. He was eloquent, gracious, and ready to help. His “member’s member” approach is one I try to emulate.

"Steny is a fearless advocate for folks who deserve the dignity everyone deserves. His role in passing the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Affordable Care Act and his Make It In America initiative all underscore his strong advocacy helping everyone to get ahead.

"Steny is a mentor, a friend and an example of the kind of service-minded Representative every district should have."
