Larsen Votes for Employee Free Choice Act

U.S. Representative Rick Larsen (WA-02) voted today in favor of the Employee Free Choice Act which passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 241 to 185. Larsen issued the following statement:

“I grew up in a union household.  My Dad worked hard to give our family a better life, and his union helped make that possible.  I’m committed to making sure working families today get the same chance.”

“Many employers respect the right to form unions. But some have stooped to harassment and intimidation to discourage union membership. That needs to change. Workers who choose to form unions must be allowed to do so and their right to a fair, open process must be protected. We must protect the right to bargain for higher wages, benefits and a better life.

“The Employee Free Choice Act will make sure that when workers choose to form a union, that choice is respected.”
