Larsen Supports Ukraine Aid: “Stand Up For Ukraine”

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) released the below statement after voting for aid to Ukraine:

“Russia’s unprovoked attack is felt far beyond Ukraine’s borders, including by the thousands of Ukrainians and Ukrainian Americans who call Washington state home. In my regular conversations with Ukrainian constituents, I have consistently heard the urgent need for aid to Ukraine in its fight against Putin’s war of aggression and I will continue to stand up for Ukraine.”

“Speaker Johnson should have brought a Ukraine aid package to the floor long ago. These delays harmed Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. I hope this package is not too late.”

The Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act provides training, equipment and weapons to Ukraine’s military, economic support for Ukraine and funding for resettlement and support services for Ukrainian arrivals in the United States. The bill passed the House by a vote of 311 to 112 with one member voting present and now moves to the Senate for consideration.

Larsen is unwavering in his support for Ukraine as Putin’s war of aggression grinds through its second year. A member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Larsen published an op-ed in December emphasizing the importance of passing legislation that meets President Biden’s request for security and humanitarian aid in support of Ukraine.
