EVERETT, WA – Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) applauded the inclusion of $3.72 billion from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) in the state’s “Move Ahead Washington” transportation package, which passed the Washington State Legislature last night.

“The state’s ‘Move Ahead Washington’ package gets federal infrastructure dollars out to Washington communities and puts people to work,” said Larsen, a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “I commend Senator Marko Liias and Representative Jake Fey for their work to get the package across the finish line, and I look forward to continue working with communities and organizations in my district to identify infrastructure needs and push for federal investment in local projects that will create well-paying jobs and drive long-term economic recovery and growth.”

More than 20 percent of funding outlined in the state’s 16-year, $16.9 billion “Move Ahead Washington” package comes from the IIJA. In addition to the $3.72 billion included in the state package, state, local and Tribal governments are eligible for competitive grant funding initiatives established or expanded under the federal infrastructure law.

Last week, Larsen celebrated the U.S. Department of Transportation’s announcement of the availability of approximately $1.47 billion in competitive grant funds to modernize bus fleets and bus facilities in Northwest Washington and across the country. As of March 11, the following federal transportation grant funding opportunities are accepting applications:

• Rebuilding American Infrastructure Sustainably and Equitably (RAISE) Grants
• Port Infrastructure Development Program Grants
• Bus and Bus Facilities Competitive Grants
• Low and No Emission Vehicle Program Grants
